We have two major hospital systems here, which is genuinely a big deal for a lot of retirees who might have regular doctor appointments with specialists – you don’t have to drive hours to see them.
On the other hand, if your dream retirement involves palm trees and never shoveling snow again, Billings is NOT that.
Winters are real here, and while they're generally milder than a lot of people expect for Montana (thanks to our valley location and frequent "chinook" warm spells), you will own a snow shovel. 🤣

Some of the top family-friendly spots include: ZooMontana, the Reef Indoor Waterpark, Wise Wonders Science and Discovery Museum for hands-on science and art, tons of parks, and the Rims for hiking and biking as they get older.
